Part 1: In The Walking Dead Volume I, Morgan meets Rick Grimes who is a Police officer who just recently woke up to a world of turmoil. Morgan Explains that he is just trying to keep his boy safe. Rick understands entirely and explains he is also in a great deal of worry for his family. After visiting the Police station Rick sets of for Atlanta to search for his family. This part is essential for the story because it sets up everything that Rick stands for. He will fight and do anything to keep his family safe.
Part 2: I find this part interesting because this is where you first see into Rick and observe his character. You find out what drives Rick to stay alive and keep fighting. Family. This ties into everything because this is another form of violent media. It raises major themes of Family and loyalty. It shows you just how far someone might go to find their loved ones in times of desperation. Rick could've just forgot about his family and just chose to survive on his own. It speaks to his values and character.
