The Walking Dead
The Walking Dead has been a huge deal in my family since it first came out so when I found out that we got to read the comics I was pretty excited! The part of volume 1 that I believe is most significant is when Rick and Shane are in the woods arguing and Shane points his gun at Rick. You begin to think, could this be the end of Rick so fast and then Carl shoots Shane. I think this is significant because it shows just how quickly violence can change someone. This is the first non walker killing of the whole thing and its destined to change everything. Carl shows the importance that family has in hard times like this. He had to be without his dad for a month and thought he had died so when he gets him back, he isn't going to lose him again even though Shane has been a father figure to him. On the contrary, the fact that Shane was moments away from killing Rick, this shows how much of a part betrayal is going to play throughout the series. Another thing I found interesting was the changes that the show had made. Things took off a lot quicker in the comics than in the show and its done a great job of getting me hooked!
