Summary of: Violent Video Games: The Effects on Youth, and Public Policy Implications
This article is about how as we have technological advances, there is also an increase in violent video game creation. Some studies have shown that violent video games can lead to more agressive behavior but these studies are not conclusive. There are also studies that show the positive effects of video games. They can be a great learning tool, it all just depends of the contents of the video game. There is also evidence that the amount of playing time and poor school preformance are linked but the amount of time played has almost nothing to do with aggressive behavior. There is more evidence that shows that parents dont actually look at/understand the video game rating systems that are in place; so young kids are playing games that are not apporpriate for them. This article also gives different ways to educate the public on these violent actions that children are exposed to.
