A part that stood out to me was when Shane and Rick were in the woods fighting. When Shane got aggravated, he pulled his gun on Rick, planning to kill him. Carl appears and kills Shane to save his father, even though Shane had protected Carl and his mother and had been able to act as a father figure to Carl when they thought that Rick was dead. This is significant because it shows how quickly a person can resort to violence if their well-being, or the well-being of someone they care about, is threatened.
